New Research Building at University of Limerick

The University of Limerick (UL) was established in 1972 as the National Institute for Higher Education, Limerick and classified as the University of Limerick in 1989.The University of Limerick is an independent, internationally focused university with over 11,600 students and 1,300 staff.

This Project consisted of the construction of new 4 storey Research Building of 4000 m² approximately, extension to the existing MSSI building within University Limerick Campus. The building comprises of Wet Labs, fume hood Intensive, Laboratory Support, Vibration Sensitive Labs, Cellular and Open plan office areas and seminar room.

The scope of works consisted of the full mechanical services installation throughout the building and the work was carried out under the form of Conditions set out in the Public Works Contract for Building Works Designed by the Employer.

The site of the works was located within grounds of the University which was particularly busy with students, employees and visitors to the university.  The surrounding and adjacent college departments continued to function as normal whilst the works were in progress.
