Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant for the National Rehabilitation Hospital Dublin
The project comprised of the detailed design, supply, and installation, commissioning, testing and setting to work of a new Combined Heat & Power (CHP) plant for the National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH), Rochestown Avenue, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.
The site of the works was located within grounds of a live Hospital which were particularly busy with patients, employees and visitors to the Hospital. The surrounding and adjacent hospital departments continued to function as normal whilst the works were in progress.
The scope of works involves all builders work, Electrical and Mechanical installation associated with the project and it was carried out under the form of Conditions set out in the Public Works Contract for Building Works Designed by the Contractor.
The builders works included; Creating Opes for Ducting, Pipework and Flue, Painting exposed Trunking and Conduit, Painting Plantroom Walls
The full electrical and controls installation included; Survey of existing Control Panel and field devices, Modifications to existing control panel, Installation of new Control Panel, Installation of new PC including software and graphics, Installation of Monitoring and targeting system, Recommissioning of existing VSD, Installation of control devices, actuators and sensors, Electrical Peripheral CHP Equipment, Replacing Plantroom lights, Training of Staff to use in CHP.
The full mechanical services installation included; Disconnecting Existing pipework, Installing new CHP Unit into Plantroom, Installing of Stainless Steel Flue and Attenuators, Installation of Low Loss Header, Installation of LTHW pipework and connection to existing heating system, Installation of circulating pumps, Insulation of New Pipework, Installation of Water Meter, Installation of Gas pipework and connecting to CHP, Installation of Gas Detection System, Testing, Commissioning and Balancing.
