Kerry General Hospital is the second largest of the HSE South’s seven acute hospitals. The hospital provides acute general hospital services to the population of Co. Kerry and additionally to a proportion of the populations of West Limerick and North Cork.

Project Information

This project was the refurbishment and extension of an existing former laundry building to provide endoscopy screening facilities, incorporating a mezzanine for staff facilities and also a roof-lit double height treatment area. A new single storey Close Observation Unit and Occupational Therapy facilities for the Acute Inpatients Unit was also developed. The works consisted of the full mechanical services installation throughout the building and the work was carried out under the form of conditions set out in the Public Works contract for Building Works designed by the employer.

Scope Of Work

The site of the works was located within grounds of the Acute Hospital which were particularly busy with patients, employees and visitors to the Hospital. The surrounding and adjacent hospital departments continued to function as normal whilst the works were in progress.

The completed building is providing the following facilities:
